I've seen a couple of people mention that they have used workbooks in their treatments. Could you tell me which one you've used, whether it was something you used in conjunction with your treatment with your T or you're doing on your own, and if you think it helps you manage your syptoms any better?
Since I don't have a job to go to and I'm single with no one to prompt me to get up, go to bed or eat, I have no sort of structure/schedule/order in my life. I set alarms on my phone to remember to take my meds or I'll forget. I forget to go to bed, forget to eat, get distracted and forget appointments unless I have alerts on my phone. I have to turn things around and I don't know if the workbooks are designed to help put a plan in place to do something like that.

Hi Sue,
I have an older workbook called "Mind Over Mood, Change How You Feel By Changing The Way You Think". I used it when I was doing out-patient therapy and it helped. I believe it is still widely used from what I've read.
I'm also reading "Break the Bipolar Cycle" & "New Hope for People with Bipolar Disorder", which are both good books and are helping me. If you look on Amazon.com, you can see other people's reviews of books and workbooks to help you out.

Sue,
I've read "Break the Bipolar Cycle" and "New Hope." They are both good books. I have also looked at "The Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Workbook for Bipolar Disorder" and "The Bipolar Survival Guide." The Survival Guide was the first bp book I read and now I have read a ton of books and I'm doing my research to write my own book. Honestly, I do my own exercises and I'm thinking of making my own workbook for bipolar disoder. It's a plan, but we'll see if I ever finish it.
