- Hi all, I have been living and handling my disorder for 3 and a bit years now and have come a very long way in a short time by reading some of the discussions here at bp about some of you guys and girls and how long some of ou av been living with it.
Fatima, amazing stuff, really, but I am sure you can understand you may get a few sde ways glances from what you are saying. Good luck to you and just keep an eye on the youngster.
I have owned it, accepted it and live with bipolar every day.
I have had the opportunity of speaking with some pretty clever and high up doctors etc and psychiatrists who still seem to be struggling with exactly how bipolar is contracted.
I find it very interesting that some are saying we are born with this!!?? (Quite amazing when 40 odd years later it only seems to get diagnosed in my case anyway....imagine my surprise when some say we are born with it.
I was told by the so called professionals that it can take as much as 8 to 10 years to be detected or for it to "come out" so to speak or be diagnosed.
I am well, struggle with focus etc and concentration blah blah blah, but I do get on with it and can only encourage all with bipolar to keep strong and be positive.
